all tugged out...

Monday, 12th May 2008 – 1:32pm Singapore time

Quick update: Grandfather has stabilised, but no other news besides that…

Anyway, I had quite a good time on Saturday at Dragontug! Well, I was totally exhausted and sleep-deprived (and a little depressed), but I did my best and the team won two championship titles baby!! =)

The first title we won was in the Men’s Lightweight Category which I found a bit stressful… It was stressful cos we all had to be weighed before we were allowed onto the boat and the maximum weight for each boat was 750kg… Even though I was the lightest in the boat, I registered a weight gain of 1 fricking kilo after lunch and that made me so tempted to just retch it out again! So pressurising lor… But we did fine weight-wise nevertheless… So after some 4 pretty ok tugs, we won the title! Sweet! My first dragonboat hardware for the year…

The second title we won was the Men’s Open Category (aka the heavyweights) and even though I wasn’t paddling in this won, I was the drummer… Now, the drummer is pretty important as he/she has the task of reaching backwards and grabbing the victory flag in order to declare a win for his/her team…

So I was really psyched up about this duty which I took on during the Grand Finals of the Men’s Open (Craig was the previous drummer) and even practised bending backwards a few times before the start… Well, the men had a good start and had a good lead and I was stretching myself like crazy when the boat was nearing the flag… And when I felt that we near enough, I did a big one and got it! Victory of course! But in the process of doing that, I pulled a pectorial muscle and it hurt like hell… It still hurts, but it was worth it cos it got me my second medal for the day!

Yeah, it was all good… I had dinner with Wann after the event, then went out with some other friends for drinks after that…

Today was a bit busy, but also a chance for me to relax after undergoing so much stress… To Cheryl and Pants, enjoy your trips!
